Develop a Forum
I have a question about setting up a Forum...but first I wanted to give a big thumbs up and a special shout out to win_dir who helped me setup my web server...THANKS MAN! He did a bang-up job and put a lot of hours in and is gonna be a damn good professional programmer, not that you already aren't bro...anyway...thanks for all your help...
(here's the obligatory spam and show of support of the "Blue Duck Programming Group"...lol) http://www.isgeeky.com
as for my problem, I have a forum thats currently being hosted by ez-board ([url]http://pub238.ezboard.com/btlforum62197). Its a small forum and wont have a lot of traffic. Part of the problem is that in a few weeks I will either have to start paying (monthly) for the forum (which aint gonna happen) or I could try to find a free host, or i could put up a similar forum in my new webspace. If anyone has or knows of a decent resource (link, examples/code, e-book, etc.) on coding a forum using HTML and PHP and MySQL I would be interested in checking it out...

Re: Develop a Forum
this may help http://www.phorum.org
I used to host my forums on f2s (when they were free) but you may find it hard to find a free host with asp/php/mysql capabilities. Im currently using fasthosts although i dont use php or mysql they support asp/perl/odbc which does it for me.
how this helps

Re: Develop a Forum
I think the 2 that i prefer as i have been a user are PHP nuke and tforum. Although you may find that some of the others have better features that you as a webmaster would like. I'd recommend experimeting a bit with it.
BTW. Leon, when are you going to do our site?
Bean, there was a blue duck, you gotta believe me guys! lol, anyway if you want any help installing anything like the forum just email me. If you emailed me in the last few days can you resend them AGAIN! I finally got the mailserver sorted properly, but I deleted all my messages a second time when i uninstalled the mailserver.
NOTE:
When typing an URL don't bother using the "Insert Hyperlink" function just type the address and it'll work

Win_Dir,
Im still working on the site but with so many fun projects on the boil its sometimes hard to find the time. At the moment im in the process of writing my own forum/message board which seems to be going better then i thought.
