at which computer in a local network an user logging in?

Please Clear your question. And also specify that for what purpose u want to know about it.

My purpose: I'm building a program to send message to someone in local network, after that I will build a chat program. But my local network has 4 rooms. So how can I know where my friends are staying (at which computer)? I only know their usernames.

So, it that clear enough?
