i saw a few laptops on sale that had this "audio dj" as a feature...

what does that mean? i just think that if they were referring to a sound card, then they'd just say sound card... so anyone know what that means?

I've heard about it. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was a sound card utilities' package, like the ones producers often include into the drivers cd.

I think its a player on a front panel, built in stuff. Anyway, its not a thing that should affect on your decision about choosing a laptop.

From what I've heard so far, It onyl software, giving you mixing and scraching ability.

A popular sofware that actually categorize in Audio DJ would be "Cakewalk" (Midi editor and recorder).

So you would get most likelly in this bundle :
WAVE editor
MIDI editor
WAVE,MP3 Scratch Table
MIXER
Looping and back sound for creating your own beat,
etc.....

And maybe the laptop came with a Sound Card that had RCA IN/OUT, COAX IN/OUT  Fiber Optic IN/OUT which would help connecting actual mising component. (If you already have a Creative Sound Card, most likelly that for about 100$ more, you may get a card that plug into your existing sound card with all those option.)
