Could u'all help!

'am using Compaq laptop with WIN 2000.

Today after I switched ON my laptop, I found WIN starting in garbage font. (similar to Wingding)

In Win starting form only 'WINDOWS 2000' was legible, rest everything is garbled.

MS-Word, the menues are okay, but the text is garbled.
All dialog boxes labels are garbled, items to select are garbled

I went into WINNT\FONTS; all fonts were erased, I copied the fonts from another PC and installed them (since the dialog box was garbled, I took screen shots from workable PC); shut-down the laptop and re-started; but again the fonts in the Fonts directory were erased.

Could you HELP.

I can send you some fonts for nt4 if you like, but if they are disappearing from your fonts folder, it sounds like you have virus on your pc.

I could'nt figure out why that fonts from fonts folder were getting erased, but I manage to solve the problem.

What  I did was:
1. Delete all the fonts from the fonts folder, I had to delete fonts more than 5 times, because they keep on re-appearing as soon as they are deleted; could't delete few fonts which were in use by the system.

2. Copied fonts to fonts folder from another PC to my laptop.


The problem is resolved, but dunno when I might surface.
