Hi Vbgen,

I don't know if this will be any help at all but just wanted to share something with you. I tpo have XP Pro and before having anything other than access and VB.OLD on it I could see the option of connecting to an SQL DB when using the connection string builder. I just assumed that VB came with these or they were part of Access for an upgrade route or something of the sort. However, as I said, ,I never did try to use these. Now I have SQL Installed there are a few more options (which I don't get to see anymore because I am now using VB.NEW).

My suggestion would be to get the SQL Server thingys or at least the SQL Server desktop engine to be on the safe side. Happy coding.

Sorry for the delay in replying vbgen, I have been out of action for a week.

I use XP-Pro for creating and debugging my ASP.NET applications. At present I am not hosting any sites. XP-PRO is my SQL-Server and my ASP.NET machine at the same time. Do you have anything else you want to know.

-Just a thought- XP-PRO is built on Win2k so anything you could do with win2k you can do with XP. My situation is that I am normally standalone (my PC that is) which is why I use XP for everything. I hope that helps.
