icon AndreaVB don't see the hype

I am very new to this forum and I have posted a question hoping to get some help, but hey. I don’t get help at all. I remember reading a post from one of the member Zimcoder I thinks comparing the response time from Codeproject and AndreaVB. I beginning to think they are the same.

Can anyone give another forum I can try out? Then maybe I can make go judgments.

I think thats a bit unfair Micheal,   after all this site is Andrea VB - not Andrea C#. Which probably means that most of the users are more into VB than C# ?
In an effort to save the site reputation I have posted a reply to your original question, but I am no C# expert so I have had to base it on my general programming knowledge of VB. I hope it helps.

It actually probably breaks down into a few groups:
1) Those that know and have VB (not the .NET)
2) Those that know and have VB & VB.NET (but don't do C#)
3) Those that know the .NET
3) Those that know them "all"

And you are making judgements after 4 hours have past since you placed your question on this forum. I think you should also consider that some people dont have internet where they work, so they cant answer you immediately.

... and that this is not a newsgroup, where there is always somebody connected. People here read a post, if they can find an answer, test it, then post it. Answers here are more accurate, but come slower and not always they do.

Thanks again people for the help. There is a saying that goes like this: A noisy wheel gets the oil. Then there is an opposite of that,’the noisy wheel gets changed.

I guess you can call me the noisy wheel that got help. I have noticed that there a couple of questions posted by others that have not received any response. Do we all have to make noise to get help.

Thanks again……..

There's more than a couple of posts without any answer. In fact, there is also a search option to read only the answerless posts.

In my humble opinion, I prefer to post a reply only when I'm sure of what I'm saying, and often I don't. I think it is the same for many of us here. You know, we can't always give a proper answer to any question. But still IMHO, in NGs things are worse: you often get a quick answer, but it is not accurate, precise, offer no feedback, it's not ultimate-solving, and often doesn't really help.
I consider AndreaVB a powerful tool, but we got to choose the appropriate tool for the current purpose each time, don't we?

Keep connected, friend.

Good point there, I guess when you are new to programming you would want the answers there and then. You have voiced your opinion and I understand you angle.  AndreaVB is a good tool, but mostly to those that know programming already.

I think......

I'm sorry you had this feeling. I am one of those who have learnt programming here! And I saw many times, and I did it later, projects born from nothing and entirely developed here by twenty or more posts into the same thread. I have made some whole (simple) projects for somebody else, even if I discourage others to do and to expect somebody else do it. Of course everybody who did, has done it in his spare time.
I think this is one of the best sites for newbies. If you felt not, I apologize for us all.

I hope you'll change your mind, and I'm sure you will if you stay with us.

I guess most of my interest is learning to develop applications in C#. I would be happy like my others out there if C# got a little more recognition.

Sure I will stick around and be part of the forum to learn a bit of VB and C#. One day I will be a Guru, just wait you see.

Michael, if you think "noising" brought you answers to your question, you are very wrong. As a matter of fact, such thing can only make things counter-productive. As for questions that remained unanswered, please point me to a site/forum that ALL the questions are answered. If the question is not answered, that doesnt mean tihs person is disregarded, only means that noone that looked on this question didnt know answers. You can alaways ask a question that cant be answered (it can be seen on some sites that MS had their MVP's to answer on questions too).

You have a point there that is why I said the noisy wheel can be changed or removed(from the forum). Now that is the part counter-productive comes in, I got productivity. Guess I was in luck.

I am really beginning to like this forum and I have learnt a lot and yes I don’t have to be noisy to get answered. This goes for everyone new here…..

AndreaVB is cool.

I have not participated here in a while. But this remains one of the Forums i look to for answers. I believe forums like these are a unique feature in this world that has gone commercially wild. Imagine this, you have people sharing information with you. Some of this information literally saves companies a lot of money. Hell it may even mean you keeping your job.

I truly appreciate and am grateful to those who take their time to answer questions which are at time very intriguing.

i know many take their time to research and write and test code. the answers may not always come on time but when they do they are normally worth the wait and come @ an unbelieavable price .This is the true spirit of the founders of the internet. Keep up the good work
