icon Has the Document Changed?

I need to review a number of Word documents via VBA and make changes depending on the findings. What I'm not sure how to do is differentiate between the documents that were changed and those that were scanned but not changed.

For example: If the code made a change then send it to print, if the code found no changes were needed then close and go on to the next.

I've looked into "detectformatchanges" and "compare" but I'm not sure if this is the right track. What is the best practice for detecting if a document has been changed?

Thanks for any help.
