icon word doesn't work

ok, well it does work. but could anyone help me fix my problem. every time i open up a microsoft word document (saved or new, doesn't matter), when im still at the splash screen a message pops up saying "Preparing to install..." with a cancel button then right after another message comes up saying "This MSI must be launched through setup." when i click on OK the same message comes up again, and again (3 times) then it goes away along with the install message. and then the whole thing happens again. this happens 3 times every time i start up microsoft word. i think it has something to do with the way i got rid of norton antivirus from my comp, i did it a very, very slopy way and i think something from norton is bothering my word proccessor. i attached a pic of the messages (i only hope it attaches correctly)
any ideas?

Hi,
Just repair your office installation using your install-discs... you do have the install discs, don't you?

Hi,
The only thing I know is to install the SPs with your product. There's no real reason I know of to need these message-boxes.

Hi,
I think I have come across this behaviour before.
Is this Word 2000 (Version 9) ??
If it is, are you opening Word by way of a shortcut to a document rather than the actual "Word" program.??
If the answer is yes to both, then you should be able to avoid the problem by opening the actual "Word" program first, then opening the document from within Word.
A complete uninstall, followed by a fresh install MAY work, but not always. I never did find out how to stop this, the only real solution was to move up to OfficeXP - Word v.10
