Hye Friends,
I am doing a project in VB 6.0 using microsoft access as the backend.
My entire coding of connection with the database has ADODB coding.
Initially we have to go to Project->References->add->Microsoft ActiveX Data Objects 2.8 Library...
This is what i have on my pc.
What happens is when i load my project on some other pc it says can't find project or library.
I go to the references and check it out when i realize that there are versions only uptil 2.7 and not 2.8.
What should i do in this kind of a situation?
Is it that my project will not work incase there is 2.7 library and not 2.8 ??
Or is it that i am missing adding something more in my project when i install it on some other pc..
This would be one of the biggest flaws in my project..
Please help me out as to how should i solve this problem..
It is really urgent..

sorry bout my reponse to your other article it wasnt really well thought answer... was at the internet cafe coz i went out of town.. anyways....

the other computer's activeX is not updated... or MDAC version is not the same with your other computer.. i had this prob b4, what i did was i updated all d computers. or you can use the lower version that is available on most computers and lastly, once your system is packaged, library referrences are included/bundled on your installation program.

Anyway could you tell me one more thing...
Once i make my project into an exe will the presence of micorsoft data objects library 2.8 or 2.7 make a real diffenrence...
please reply soon...
And how should i convert my project into an exe...

Hi,
To convert to an EXE application, first go to project properties and make sure the Project Type is Standard Exe. Then go to tools/package and deployment wizard and follow the instructions.
This will create your application and also a setup file to install on the target computer.
