not strictly a vb question..
Hi there...
I've bought an ADSL modem, and its got two connections to connect to the PC... One is a LAN connection, and the other is a USB port... I've got a laptop and a Desktop, and i've setup both computers to connect from the same modem... (The laptop on USB, and the desktop on LAN)...
Now what i want is that i want access to both PCs from each other, without adding any hardware. Izzat possible?
Regards...

Re: not strictly a vb question..
Hello. I'm afraid you can't: the two machines need to communicate via a network protocol. The desktop has a network adapter but the laptop has not it, as the usb port is not a valid network communication channel - at least, not without any additional software, like in the case of a LapLink connection.
In fact, you can't use your ADSL modem as a network hub. You could if the laptop was interfaced to it via a network adapter as well.
Hope it helps.
PS: mine is a Netgear DG632

Hi
Thnx for the quick response, Yronium... Well, there IS a physical connection existing between the pcs.... And well... Logically, it SHOULD be possible to connect....
Comon guys, we're Programmers! and we should be able to do things that others can't do on their computers... HEHE.... Would welcome any comments on how to make a vb program for the purpose
Regards...

Hi,
Strangely enuf bro, it's working just fine after I made the usual settings of a network (installed the necessary windows components in both computers...) Its sooo cool that i can even watch a DVD movie on my desktop using my laptop's drive ... And I just discovered that DVD requires less than 10Mbps bandwidth (cuz my USB connection is just 10 Mbps)
