Hi,
i need to read from a serial port (a barcocde reader) and put the result in database access.
i did some research and i found that i can use an activex control called MSCOMM32.OCX in VB6. I tried to use it by downloading it but i had a license violation error.
can anybody tell me how to use it in access

do you have Visual Basic installed on the same machine you are using with access? if not you should install it because when the ocx is installed it is also registered and then it can be used in a development environment, if you only copied the ocx there is no license to use it.
