I'm not sure if anybody has asked this question before, but here goes...

I want to make a door lock system that reads a USB storage device for some specific values, if they match it's records it will unlock the door - I will be using a serial controlled relay board for this system.

I can do a lot of the work by myself, however I have absolutely NO knowledge of USB functions in Visual Basic (version 6).

I need your help on monitoring the computer for new USB devices, and if the device is a USB storage device, I need it to find the drive letter.

Please guys/girls, how could I monitor for new USB devices?

Edit: Or, it could watch an SD reading device and detect when an SD card has been inserted into the reader.
