icon printer name detection

hi guys... help me with this problem o' mine... I am currently doing a project in VB6... printer project to be exact... my first time in the forum so I don't mean to be rude on what i'm doing and what I'm asking for... I just started visual basic but i can understand some advance coding... ok enough with the introduction...

could you help me guys to get the "Printer name" or "Device name", (what ever you call it), of the printer which is attached/interfaced for the first time in your PC... which means that the device(printer) is not yet installed...

when the printer is attached in the PC, my project for example will refresh my textbox and register the "printer name" in the textbox...

I really need this code guys...

Hi
What you need (ideally) is called a System Hook, however, I've only got a minute and google is being a pain. Also, add a timer to your app (say, every minute or so) and check the printer in the timer event

Hope this helps (or at least points you in the right direction)
Regards
Kieron
