compare text files

i have a text file on pc en download an neverversion of the file from internet.
How can update or delete parts of the text file on pc so that the tex file on pc is the same of the text file from internet

Hi,
You need to clarify what makes the text file different, and how you would (manually) perform this. How is the computer supposed to know which bits of the text file to keep (ie. same) and which bits to throw away (ie. different)?
